Privacy Policy

This applies regardless of the site's language, since the site is operated from Germany and GDPR applies to the operator, not the visitor.

Hosting

This site is hosted on Cloudflare's network. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical connection data for every request, such as IP address, browser type, and timestamp, in order to deliver the site and to protect it against abuse. This happens automatically and is not something this site's code controls directly. Cloudflare acts as a data processor here and publishes its own privacy policy and data processing terms, including safeguards for international data transfers.

Fonts

This site uses IBM Plex fonts, downloaded once at build time and served from this site's own domain. Your browser never contacts Google or any other font provider when you visit this site.

Comments

Articles have an optional comment section. If you post a comment, the name you choose to enter, the comment text, and the time of posting are stored in a Cloudflare D1 database so the comment can be displayed. I do not store your IP address alongside comments. New comments are held in a private moderation queue and only become publicly visible after I review them; rejected comments are deleted rather than published.

The comment form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, a captcha alternative that helps block automated spam. The Turnstile script only loads on article pages that show a comment form, not sitewide, and only runs when you interact with the form. Your browser sends your IP address to Cloudflare as part of that verification; this site does not receive or store it. Turnstile is used because it is necessary to provide the commenting feature you are actively using, not for tracking.

No analytics, no advertising

This site runs no analytics, advertising, or marketing scripts, and sets no tracking cookies. Because of that, there is no cookie consent banner: nothing non-essential is loaded that would require your consent under the ePrivacy rules. If that ever changes, this page and a consent mechanism will be updated accordingly.

External links

Where articles link to external sites (for example, Microsoft's documentation), those sites have their own privacy policies that this policy does not cover.

Your rights

Under GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or delete data concerning you, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. If you posted a comment and want it edited or removed, email sebastian.koch@consos.de with a link to the page and I will take care of it. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
